Concept

Briefing & Survey APT Architects will work with you to develop a concept design, sketching layout options to explore the potential of the property. We will also carry out a full measured survey of the property as long as it is within the area of our operation.

Planning

Planning Application & Scheme Design Following on from the briefing we will prepare a set of scale drawings reflecting the range of ideas discussed. We will prepare and submit the planning application, liaising with the your local planning authority. APT have extensive experience with corresponding with many south London Boroughs especially Hammersmith & Fulham Council, Wandsworth, Lambeth, Kingston upon Thames & Kensington and Chelsea.

Visualisation

3D Modelling Services We will help you visualise the space in three dimensions. We can produce internal or external views of your project. This can also be a useful tool to similutate how you would dwell, move around and live within your property.

Technical

Building Control and Detailing We will produce detailed technical drawings including drainage and electrical layouts, consulting with you to ensure the design meets your needs. We will then submit to building control and manage the approval process. As part of this service we can assist you in appointing other consultants, for example the structural engineer or party wall surveyor.

Specification

Interior Architecture and Schedules We offer interior architecture and design for a high spec finish. We can produce further detailed information integrating specialist glazing components, floor finishes, joinery and bespoke staircase design as required.

Interior Design

Furniture, Fittings & Equipment We provide Interior design services ourselves or through collaboration with other London based Interior Designers, who may also be appointed by the client. We are happy to specify FF&E (furniture, fittings and equipment) for the project, providing a complete “one-stop” shop for your development.

Tendering

Prices and Builders We will help you make an informed choice on an appropriate contractor. We maintain a selective tender list of contractors especially in the local London area, who we have experience working with on site. We will prepare tender documentation and appraise their quotes.

On Site

Contract Administration Among a wide array of services, this will include undertaking site visits to monitor the quality of construction and handle any on-site queries from the contractor.

The dormer loft conversion we provide is an extension of the existing roof, that protrudes vertically from a downlard sloping roof. This creates additional floor space and head height within the loft area.

Because a roof light conversion is not considered to overlook neighbours properties, you don't usually have to apply for planning permission this cuts out alot of the planning paperwork. With this type of conversion Velux windows is the prime choice for slanted roof glazing.

HIP TO GABLE

APT's Hip to Gable extension expands the hip of your existing roof through to the Gable end. This type of loft conversion gives greater roof space and also enables a larger rear dormer to be constructed maximising your interior space. This style is most popular in semi-detached houses.

ROOF LIFT/ ADDIONAL FLOOR

If you need a loft conversion, and your existing attic space doesn’t have the headroom, then a roof lift is the answer. APT Can either perform a roof lift where we raise the ridge line of your existing roof, or we can constructing a whole new floor. These types of structural changes are subject to Planning Permission.

The Dormer loft is built such that it squares off the top of an already existing sloping roof.  This requires relatively straight forward building works. APT Renovation Carry out many of these across south London.

For an L Shaped mansard roof to be constructed the property would require a back addition. Often a kitchen and bathroom or utility room is located at the back of the house. This allows the mansard to extend over this area. These are most commonly built on London Victorian properties.

Velux is the name everybody knows about when it comes to superb quality roof windows, and is essential for any loft conversion.

While the name Velux isn’t actually a type of roof structure, it is a name of the most well known window brand. The original roof structure is retained, the roof space is made into a habitable room then the velux / velux styled windows are then fitted into to the roof.

Hip to Gable

Our hip to gable conversion projects are most regularly carried out on fully detached, semi detached or end of terrace houses. Hipped roofs are essentially a roof with either the left end sloping, the right end sloping of both ends sloping. The roof is extended out perpendicular to the slope.
